Color Of Title - A Devil's Bluff

The devil has no right to run rough shod over your life. Truth be told, he really doesn't even have the right to try and operate in your life, or mine. Now I didn't say that he wasn't operating in our lives, I just said that he doesn't have the right to do it.

I'm talking about the legal right. Too many times we let the devil convince us that God is a legal God who demands justice, so satan uses that mindset against us to draw us into guilt and condemnation and forget that we are saved by the blood of Jesus Christ and are new creatures in Christ Jesus.

He's right about that you know. God is a legal God. He's just not legalistic like the devil is. God is just, meaning, he's all about justice, but trust me when I tell you that His being that way is actually good news for us, not bad news. Once you understand this, you feel a lot better about your chances of seeing things going on in this earth the way that God sees them. That's the only way to have any confidence that God will help you.

Now for all those out there who practice law let me admit right off the bat that I'm no lawyer. But I do know how to read and comprehend the definitions of words. I learned that in public school believe it or not back when they still taught reading and comprehension.

Okay, okay, I admit it. The old original Perry Mason show is my favorite TV program. Not the later movies, just the original 9 year series. By today's standards shows like this are almost like a religious program. I really don't know why I just used the word standards when talking about TV, especially after I just got through telling you that I could comprehend the meaning of words, but let's let that slide for a few minutes. At least I can watch this show and I don't have to repent afterwards, and sometimes I even learn something like I did this time. Although I don't take shows like this seriously for anything other than a little bit of get the bad guy entertainment before lights out, I'll admit that something I heard on the show this time did give me the idea for this topic.

During one particular recent episode, Mason was trying to help a man who thought something bad may have happened in the workshop located behind his home, but he couldn't prove it and he wanted to protect someone who he thought might have been involved in the potential wrongdoing. At one point Mason asked the man to sign a power of attorney document assigning him (Mason) ownership over the workshop and everything that was contained inside. When the man asked him why he needed it, Mason produced a very interesting statement which caught my attention. He stated that the reason he had the man sign this document granting him these legal rights was to give him (Mason) Color of Title. That's what he called it, Color of Title. He went on to explain further that this Color of Title gave him the appearance of ownership to the property and everything contained on it or in it. He didn't say he owned it, he said he wanted it to appear that he owned it so that he could gain legal entry and look around. In reality he did not in fact own it because a Color of Title actually assumes that something is wrong with either the actual document that has been signed or with the actual title of the property itself.

Here's the definition I found on the internet;

Color of Title.

The appearance of a legally enforceable right of possession or ownership. A written instrument that purports to transfer ownership of property but, due to some defect, does not have that effect.

I don't know exactly why this statement hit me the way it did, but as soon as I heard it, I thought to myself, that 's exactly how the devil operates! Color of Title!

You see, God says in the scriptures that He owns the earth and all that is in it.

Psalm 24:1

The earth is the Lord's, and the fullness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.

When He created man and placed him in the Garden, he in effect became the Landlord of the earth, leasing the earth and all that was contained in it to Adam, even to the point of assigning complete dominion and total autonomy to Adam. The result was that Adam in fact had leased the earth from God and had authority to control it.

In a legal sense, a landlord cannot even enter a property that he has leased without first notifying the tenant of his intent to enter even though he owns it, and he must have a valid reason for wanting entry. For God do be able to do anything in the earth from this point, he would have to receive permission from the tenant (Adam) as long as he (the tenant) was abiding by and following all of the rules of occupying the premises. Wow!

And that as they say.... is where the trouble started. Unfortunately for us we all know that Adam broke the cardinal rule of occupying a landlord's property. Without realizing the ramifications and not fully understanding the fine print within the clauses contained in the lease, (don't eat of that tree) he accidentally sub-leased it to a third party, Lucifer. When Adam ate of the fruit offered to him by his wife Eve, he broke his lease and relinquished his control over to the super-slick high pressure door to door salesman who then became satan the devil.

For some who may have forgotten, when a landlord leases a property, he gets to set the rules of occupancy and other stipulations, such as how many occupants there can be at one time, how the property will be maintained, no loud parties and so forth. He gets to perform a background check to make sure that his property is going to be cared for and respected. He might even check your credit rating to see if you can pay the rent! Essentially, he gets to set all of the rules. The tenant doesn't get to set any rules. If you want to rent or lease, then you agree to the terms of the lease, which interestingly enough is called a "covenant". Once the rules of that covenant are broken, the owner can then repossess the property from the occupant after having made sufficient notice of intent to enter and retake possession.

As soon as Adam blew his occupancy, God began stating His intent to re-enter the premises. He gave Public Notice in writing by moving upon men through His Holy Spirit to write down His words, which said that He would send a Representative to the earth to redeem ownership of His possessions. Through hundreds of different prophets, announcers and many other proclaimers, over thousands of years, God made His intent clear. He wants His stuff back.

But He can't just go take it back just because He's God. In fact He can't just take it back because He is a just God! He had to give a legal Notice. He even had to put down earnest money (a down payment) on His Mastercard in order to place a lien on the property and His possessions until a court date could be set.

He had to wait until His representative Jesus could be born into the earth and then grow up into a man who could be anointed (chosen) by God and filled with the Holy Ghost, so that Power of Attorney could be assigned to Him. Jesus alone was uniquely qualified to do that because He and the Father had previously signed a new covenant in blood during a special Property Owner's Meeting in Genesis 15.

Jesus was legally qualified to sign this new agreement that would be unbreakable since He Himself was a member of the Godhead Trinity, and since He would be the representative that would then bring the case to open court at the Cross, and when He was crucified by the defendants, He in effect secured the Judgement against the illegal occupants (the devil and his cronies). Then when the Father raised Jesus from the dead, Jesus proceeded to prosecute them in the pits of hell.

Colossians 2:15

And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.

I guess you could say that he made them look like fools in open court!

It's staring to sound like there's a lot more to this landlord and tenant stuff!

Well back to my point. The devil is operating in this earth and in our lives right now on nothing but Color of Title. He appears to own it and he thinks he does, and what's even worse is that up until recently we think he owns it too! He's got everybody scared of him by influencing movie producers to make films showing him to be all scary and powerful with all these super duper powers that no one can stand up to, and he's got it fixed where everyone thinks that he's running Hell with his demons. Folks, he's not running anything anywhere! I just showed you the scripture. It says that Jesus whooped him and every and all demons in their own yard, yet people still think that the devil is running something. Well the only thing he's running is a big bluff!

Hell is not a place where people go to be punished by the devil and his demons. The devil and his demons are the ones to receive the punishment. The ones who deny Jesus is the Son of God will end up there it's true, but God did not design it for people. He gave them a way of escape through His son Jesus.

Matthew 25:41

Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

That doesn't sound like the devil is running anything to me. It's an easy thing to blame all evil on the devil when in reality there is a lot of evil right inside the heart of man when he is not submitted to God through a relationship with Jesus Christ.

Yes, the devil may hold Color of Title, but there is a flaw in his document. He never officially leased the earth from God, he merely took possession once Adam had relinquished his responsibility to maintain the security of the premises. And that is exactly how he is entering your life, simply by appearing to be in control of the everyday circumstances of your life, and mine, because up until now we have been so poorly trained that we have been blinded to what really took place for us when Jesus came to this earth and reclaimed ownership of the earth, and redeemed all of mankind to Himself.

I know there is evil in the world. I know there is a devil and he's not only mean, but he's nasty along with it. But just like any other bully, he has made it out to look like he's a lot bigger and lot more powerful than he really is. He "appears" to be big and bad. He "appears" to be in control of almost everything. I'm beginning to believe that he only holds Color of Title, and that the real story is what happened to us when Jesus was crucified, buried, and then raised from the dead to justify us.

That makes God the real Title Holder again, and He can be my Landlord anytime!

2 Corinthians 5:17-21

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;

To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.

Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.

For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
