LEAVE THEM DOGGONE FEARS BEHIND

You know it’s funny how a good dog will treat you right. They love you and trust you, they wait at your feet until you get done with whatever you’re doing, and then they’re right there to see what you’ve got going on and how they can participate. Yes, there’s nothing like a good dog at the end of a long hard day waiting on you when you get home to find out what great things will happen next.
If only we could be that way with God. Jumping up and down trying to get his attention, trying to get him to look at us so we can talk to him. Resting at His feet, reading His word, or just spending time thinking about Him and in general doing whatever He wants to do. Isn’t it great that unlike us with our pets, He doesn’t make us do all that. He is ready any time we are.
Instead, too many times what we do, is ignore Him, hide from Him, or otherwise only think of Him when there is a need. It’s pretty selfish when you really think about it. Apparently our dogs treat us better than we treat God.
That’s why we get in so doggone much trouble in our daily lives. Have you noticed? Today for example, right now, almost every single news story on the planet is about the latest threat or terrible thing that is about to happen.
And so there we are, barking and yapping nonstop and running around like crazy. As far as the news is concerned, the old adage applies, if it bleeds it leads. If it cries it flies, and if it smells it sells!
Listening to this stuff is the absolute last thing that we need in our lives. What we need to be doing is being content in whatever state that we find ourselves in, just like it says in God’s word. That’s what the Bible says, and that simply means being quiet and trusting in our master to guard and provide for us and shield us. He will protect us and take care of everything that we need while we serve His purpose of providing the fellowship that he desires.
Maybe we could learn something from our pets. They’re not out running around trying to get all of the other dogs to spend more time washing their paws. That’s not what they’re doing. Those that have learned that they can trust us are just calmly standing by and being content while waiting for another opportunity to spend time enjoying their master, who has promised to care for and protect them. That’s where we put our faith. That’s how we avoid fear. It’s time to put our faith in Him and leave them doggone cares behind!
