WHAT IS A "NEW CREATION" SONG?
It's a song that contains information about what is available to the New Testament Believer, that is, those who have accepted Jesus Christ as their personal Savior and have received and accepted His Salvation.
A thorough study of the word salvation shows that it's an all inclusive term that defines at least 9 "wells from which to draw from".
Those wells include but are not limited to,
1) New Birth of the Human Spirit
2) Preservation
3) Soundness
4) Welfare (eating well)
5) Safety
6) Divine Healing
7) Deliverance
8) Help
9) Prosperity (don't get mad about this one. It's in there too!)
And those are just the main ones we can pin down with actual scriptures. There are many more benefits that are either directly or indirectly alluded to by God in the remainder of the Bible.
Although the Bible says that these things most assuredly belong to every person who has received God's salvation through Jesus Christ, there is no guarantee that a person necessarily knows it, especially if they don't read God's Word and find out how to obtain and secure His promises and benefits.
A New Creation Song is one in which a person is shown from the Word of God not only what these realities are, but also how to obtain them. So, you can see that you can't just throw that term out there to describe any old Gospel or Christian song as good as those songs may be. Thank God for the song Amazing Grace, and many of us got saved with songs just like that one, but we need to go further than that in our walk with the Lord in order to experience everything He has in mind for us.
WHY IS THAT IMPORTANT?
The reason that's important is simple. It's one thing to get saved and know that you have a home in Heaven when you die. If that were all there was to it then we should all still be dancing and praising God. But there is more to it than that. God said that there was. Jesus said that He came that those who believed in Him and upon Him would have life, and have it more abundantly. God knows that you have to live in this present evil world until such time as He raptures the believer away from here on that great and wonderful day of the Lord Jesus Christ. But what about right now?
In order for you to live successfully and be a blessing to help others receive Salvation and what belongs to them, you must be able to do more than just drag yourself through life on barely get along street until the end. No one would be attracted to that and nobody would want to have what you have. There's enough of that (barely get by) already out there that they've already experienced! New Creation Realities as described by Jesus and later by the Apostle Paul define what it means to be (speaking of Christ)...
In Him...
Of Him...
By Him...
Through Him...
With Him...
For Him...
By knowing these truths, every believer can not only get by, but they can live well and have the success of God's provision right here in the midst of the chaos that is going on in this world. This was also true in the Old Testament as well. We know that David said this in in Psalm 27:13,
"I would have fainted and fallen over as if dead, had I not known that I could see the goodness of God right here in the land of the living."
So don't let anyone tell you that this is some new thing. God has always been Good!
Since every believer is a New Creation as stated in 2nd Corinthians 5, verses 17-21, then every single one of these bible truths belong to you and every saved person right now. That is why it is so important to pay attention to the right things, the right words, and the right songs, and to do it right now.
Music is one of the most effective ways to present any subject. When it is used properly as God intended, music is ultimately God's most effective way of learning how to praise God and worship Him as He desires. This is why He focuses on it so intently throughout His Word.
If you're a New Creation, and you want to learn God's Word and obtain all that He has for you, then you need to listen to songs that contain these truths, no matter who has written them.
